A prominent doctor in Geneva says he believes the state’s current covid policy is too relaxed, stricter measures need to be brought in, and the fourth jab should be more available.

Current government policy is not to stop infections at all costs, but rather to make sure all those suffering symptoms can be cared for.

The Federal Health Office says the vaccines are preventing serious forms of the disease.

Geneva is actively monitoring the situation and says the variants BA.4 and BA.5 are the most common.

But the head of the Institute of Global Health at the University of Geneva, Antoine Flahault, says there should be more testing and mask wearing – especially inside buildings and on public transport. He also says that the forth dose of the vaccine to be made more available, especially for the vulnerable.
