Crans Montana to donate CHF 1m to victim fund

Crans Montana

Crans-Montana is to donate a million francs to a fund to help the victims of the New Year’s fire.

The mayor, Nicolas Féraud, says the council knows the money can’t ease the pain, but they hope it will help the families. The million francs equals around CHF 100 per resident.

Meanwhile, two victims have sent messages to well-wishers.

Coline, who’s 22, has awakened from a medically induced coma. She posted a message on TikTok, thanking everyone for their support. She’s benign treated at a hospital in Antwerp, Belgium.

She’s the girlfriend of a professional football player. Tahirys Dos Santos plays for the french club, FC Metz. He was also injured in the fire - but his injuries are less severe.

The 28 year old bar manager of the Constellation bar was also badly injured. He spent 8 days in a coma - he has now been able to return home.

In an interview with RTS, he says he’s angry at the owners of the bar as they’re trying to blame the employees - the Moretti couple accused a seasonal worker of locking an emergency exit.
