There are worries companies in the French speaking part of the country will struggle to fill jobs in the next few years.
Already, unemployment is low and 25,000 positions remain unfilled in the French speaking areas.
The rest of the country has similar problems, but it is particularly acute in western parts.
While many unfilled positions do require suitably qualified candidates – even roles that don’t need specific educational levels are remaining empty.
The study by the cantonal banks also warns the problem will affect economic growth.
