Busy weekends at Geneva Airport

Geneva airport was very busy last weekend, due to the school holidays – and this weekend will be similar.

57,000 passed through last weekend. That’s up 9% from the same period last year.

The airport says there are not more flights, but the planes are bigger and fuller. That’s down to ticket discounting, it says.

The top five destinations remain the same – London, Porto and Lisbon. Paris and Amsterdam are also very popular, but those travellers are normally taking a connecting flight.

The annual figures are not quite at pre-covid levels – but are now very close.

An airport spokesman says at the beginning of the year they were expecting 4% down on 2019 numbers – but it looks like it will only be 1% lower.
