Business groups and some politicians are calling for the immediate end of Covid restrictions.
The director of the Association of Small and Medium sized Enterprises, Hans Ulrich Bigler says many companies and staff are suffering enormously because of the laws.
At a news conference yesterday, other business owners say the vaccine certificate is harming their businesses, especially in the hospitality and event sectors.
The Zurich economist and a member of the Covid task force, Jan-Egbert Sturm, says many companies are suffering because of staff either off sick or isolating – and the removal of the certificate wouldn’t help.
Patrick Mathys from the Federal Health Office says it’s too early to lift the rules as the peak infection rate has yet to hit this country.
Switzerland has one of the highest infection rates in Europe t the moment, but hospital admissions are relatively low.
Mathys says that can’t really be explained at the moment.
