Bern police ready for more biker gang trouble

Police in Bern will be ready today for more trouble outside a court as members of rival motorcycle gangs face charges of attempted murder and serious bodily harm.

Hundreds of bikers from Hells Angels and the Bandidos threw missiles at riot police that responded with tear gas and water cannon yesterday.

Twenty-two gang members are on trial following a fight that broke out in May 2019 in Belp near the city of Bern.

Members of Bandidos were setting up a Swiss chapter – which triggered a battle with Hells Angels. During the altercation, shots were fired and one biker was hit in the stomach and seriously injured.

Others were also hurt in the brawl.

It’s unknown if there’s a link with the trial and a shootout between rival biker gangs in a Geneva bar a few days ago.
