A new hotline for victims of domestic violence opens today; accessible 24/7 and across the country.
First piloted in Zurich, the hotline aims to provide urgent support for victims to access the relevant services, such as local LAVI centres, urgent accommodation or medical support.
There has been some critique of how long the hotline has taken to set up, given that other European countries have had a similar hotline for sometime.
According to the pilot, approximately 10% of the calls concerned an acute crisis situation.
The hotline number is 142
