Calum Scott on global hits and heartbreaking ballads
The Homerun
Friday, 23 October 2026 - 11 minutes
From Britain’s Got Talent to global hits and heartbreaking ballads, Calum Scott has come a long way from the audition he only entered because of his sister. But behind that unmistakable voice is a man who wears his heart on his sleeve, values his family and wants to help the next generation of artists find their feet.
Katt Cullen caught up with Calum on the Home Run on WRS with just an hour and a quarter until showtime at Baloise Session and between the pre-gig treats and getting ready to hit the stage, Calum had plenty to say.
From the intensely personal stories behind his songs to the big questions explored on his latest album, Avenoir (a mixture of French words "Avenir" and "Avoir)", Calum opens up about love, loss, the future, his hopes of becoming a father and why paying it forward matters to him. And as he's been on the Voice Germany, Katt prods a little into whether he's been able to practice any of his German around Basel.
It’s honest, heartfelt and full of the warmth and humour that make Calum so easy to root for. Get to know the man behind the music.
