Indian Balls with Mint Raita

Ingredients

  • 1 eggs
  • 1 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp. peanut oil
  • 2 tbsp. breadcrumbs
  • 180 g plain yoghurt
  • 1 slice toast bread
  • 200 g vegetarian mince
  • 2 tsp. mango chutney
  • 1 pinch garam masala
  • a little salt and pepper to taste
  • a little white flour to make little balls
  • 1 tbsp. peppermint leaves, finely chopped
  • 1 mango, peeled, cut into thin segments

Instructions

Soften the toast in water, squeeze out and shred finely. Add the mince, egg, breadcrumbs and mango chutney and season with salt, pepper, lemon juice and garam masala. Mix well by hand and, with lightly floured hands, form into evenly-sized balls (Ø 3.5 cm). Heat the oil in a non-stick frying pan and fry the balls over a medium heat, turning frequently, for approx. 8 mins. Combine the yoghurt and peppermint and season with salt and pepper. Using toothpicks, stick the mango segments onto the balls while still hot and serve with the yoghurt dressing.
