Geneva rules swayed by French decision
Geneva authorities are admitting the decision to loosen lockdown restrictions in the canton has been influenced by the French government’s opening of shops.ird wave.

In addition, Geneva traders are complaining they’re losing trade to other cantons, mainly Vaud.
This weekend more shops will be allowed to open their doors, but there will still be rules om how many people can be inside at the same time – and mask wearing will be compulsory.
Nathalie Fontanet, cantonal minister for the economy says local businesses couldn’t afford another Saturday of lost trade in this busy period and the health minister Mauro Poggia says Geneva traders are fed up with seeing Vaud shops boosting their trade by 20% as people cross the cantonal line.
Poggia says he hopes people have learnt the lesson from the summer. Even as the canton emerges from a full lockdown, the basic rules still need to be followed to prevent a third wave.
