Defamatory Facebook post costs man CHF 4,500
A Neuchatel Facebook user has been ordered to pay a hunter CHF 4,500 in compensation for defamation.
The man was on his mountain bike when he came across the hunter. He claims the hunter was drunk and aimed his weapon at him for several seconds when they met.
A subsequent social media post called the hunter ‘mad’ with other more colorful descriptions.
A judge says the information in the post allowed the hunter to be identified and there wasn’t enough evidence to show the hunter was behaving inappropriately.
There also isn’t any law which forbids hunters from drinking.
