Switzerland faces flu jab shortage
Because of the pandemic, more people will be wanting to be vaccinated against the flu this year as doctors have been warning of the danger of contracting flu and Covid at the same time.
But there may not be enough for all those who want one.
The Federal Health Office tried to buy 2.5 million doses – but has secured only 1.6 million.
That means there’s not enough even for all those over 65.
One of the brands approved for Switzerland is from the British company Glaxo Smith Kline, but they’ve sold out already and can’t supply the 650,000 that the health office wanted.
Doctors are saying they will be forced to vaccinate only those in high risk groups – not everyone who would like a shot.
