Government wants to push ahead with 5G
The government says it wants to make the roll out of the 5G mobile network a top priority.
The new technology is stalling at the moment as there are concerns about the power of the transmitters and general concerns about health.
Some cantons are refusing to issue permits for new masts.
The Federal Office of Communications – as well as the phone companies – say there is no danger.
But a new system of adaptive transmitters may remove the logjam.
These will work by boosting their power when being used by a phone – and reduced when idle.
The cantons seem to be reassured after a meeting last week.
