Is fondue dangerous?

National News // Sept. 7, 2020

The serious questions are being answered by the experts – as summer comes to an end, can you catch the coronavirus from eating fondue?

Pixabay Is fondue dangerous?

No, is the consensus. Not from the food, but perhaps social distancing is harder to follow.

Didier Pittet – an epidemiologist at Geneva University Hospital, is clear when he told Swiss TV there’s no chance.

The Federal health Office says fondue is served too hot for the virus to survive, the white wine would kill it too and anyway, the disease is not contracted through the digestive tract.

But there is a risk of being too close to each other But even then the dangers are lessened as we would normally share fondues with friends – so contact tracing should be fairly simple if needed.
