Weather alert issued until weekend as temperatures rise
Several cantons have banned all fires as the risk of forest fires is too high – and there are warnings to stay out of the sun.

Temperatures over the next few days are expected to hit 38 degrees at times.
Forecasters have issued a weather alert which starts from noon today until Saturday evening.
Cantons Vaud and Geneva are expected to be particularly hot. Residents are being warned to stay in the shade in the middle of the day and carry out any outdoor activities during the morning.
Fires and barbeques outside are now forbidden in many cantons – especially in the central parts of the country as well as in canton Ticino.
As it’s National Day on Saturday, people are being urged to be careful with fireworks and not to set them off near a forest.
