Tourism up but much lower than last year
While the number of tourists in Switzerland is climbing slightly, it's still significantly lower than this time last year.
Around 25,000 passengers passed through Zurich airport this weekend – up from the beginning of the month, but still just a quarter of what the airport handled last year.
Traffic through the Gotthard Tunnel is also much lower. Weekend drivers had to wait only an hour to get through – far shorter than normal.
A spokesman for Uri cantonal police say they observed far more Swiss registered cars, suggesting many are taking the government advice to vacation within the country.
