Locals dispute youngest person to climb Matterhorn claims
The celebration in the British media about the youngest person ever to climb the Matterhorn was premature, according to locals.
Two weeks ago, 11-year-old Jules Moyleaux from Scotland got to the top of the famous mountain with his father and two guides.
He told the press he had trained for two years.
But those who live around the mountain say he’s not the youngest.
Swiss mountaineer Kevin Lauber climbed the mountain with his father, Kurt, when he was eight.
Kurt says it was always his son’s dream.
Italian media are also claiming an eight-year-old girl summited in the mid-2000s.
