Swiss army marches like 'stroll in the park' at Paris Bastille Day parade
A 4-man Swiss army detachment seems unlikely to ever live down the embarrassment of its showing at the Bastille Day parade in Paris.
Switzerland was granted the honour of joining in the parade after opening its hospitals to French sufferers of Covid-19.
President Alain Berset joined French head Emmanuel Macron on the podium to inspect the troops.
But, as an army spokesman admits, it didn’t go to plan.
The 4 men marched so hopelessly out of step, the press likened it to a stroll in the park.
The head of the detachment, Lieutenant Colonel Sébastien Rouge, said on a TV interview they had practiced for two days.
It clearly wasn’t enough.
