Vegan man loses claim that he was unable to eat vegan food in prison
A vegan man has lost his bid for compensation after he claimed he was unable to follow his diet while in prison.
The man was being detained in Geneva at Champs-Dollon.
The Federal Court has upheld a lower court’s decision. Judges pointed out the man was allowed to speak to the chef, most vegetarian options were also vegan and he was given additional portions of fresh fruit and vegetables.
Also, the prison shop has 14 vegan products available.
The court rejected his CHF 3,000 claim.
The man is now free.
