Cash van robbers arrested thanks to Geneva-French police operation
A joint Geneva-French police operation has resulted in several arrests in France and has likely thwarted further attacks on cash carrying vehicles in Switzerland.
Some details have been confirmed by the Geneva prosecutors’ office. They say the two countries have been cooperating since October last year.
Details in the paper ‘Le Parisien’ say police issued a warning to the vans on July 3rd suggesting a robbery attempt in Switzerland was imminent. The vans changed their routes and the suspects fled back across the border.
Shortly after one man was arrested in Lyon, another in Var and two more in Gex.
There have been several attacks on cash vans in Geneva and Vaud over the past few years – the last one in Daillens in Vaud in December.
