Geneva prioritises football over Cirque du Soleil
What’s more important – the football or the Cirque du Soleil? Well, the city of Geneva says the football.
Because the Euro 2020 championships have been postponed, and now will go ahead this time next year, that created a clash on the Plainpalais. The city has been forced to choose between a football fan zone and the circus. It’s gone for the fan zone.
It’s becoming tradition that the football games are shown on big screens in the middle of the city, and tens of thousands show up.
The city decided it would have been too complicated to have both at the same time. The department of sport says the fan zone is popular, open to everyone, and free.
It hopes the Cirque du Soleil will visit Geneva in 2022.
