Massive building project given go ahead in Geneva
Geneva has given the go ahead to a massive building programme in the middle of the city.
A new residential complex will be built at the site which currently houses the barracks in Les Vernets.
It will house around 4,000 people, come with its own school and have a tower which will be 20 meters taller than the nearby TV building.
Some are questioning the density of the project – it will house as many people per square meter as the Paquis district.
The region will be car free and purpose-built parks will be created.
Work should start in the autumn and ben finished in early 2023.
