The NZZ newspaper says a government source told it that nightclubs may soon be allowed to open. It was thought there was no chance of that until September.

There will be stricter rules – such as a limit of no more than 300 is being discussed, according to the paper.

More information is expected later today. It’s also thought the limit of no more than 5 people meeting will be lifted to 30. More could be allowed at sporting events and there could be further easing of rules for restaurants.

According to the Federal Health Office, 15 people were infected in the past 24 hours.
