Geneva Motor Show may be cancelled until 2022
This year’s Geneva Motor Show was one of the first major cancellations at the start of the Covid-19 outbreak – and organizers are suggesting it will take a miracle for the 2021 edition to go ahead as well.
They’ve refused a loan from canton Geneva of nearly CHF 17m – as it comes with the condition next year’s show goes ahead.
Organizers say car makers have been heavily hit by the pandemic. Sandro Mesquita, head of the foundation that runs the show, says the manufacturers are suggesting they would rather skip 2021 and put on a good show for 2022.
But a final decision won’t be made until the end of June.
