Food bank demand rises considerably in french-speaking region
More people are asking for food aid in French-speaking Switzerland.
Food bank organizations say their stocks are being depleted at a rapid rate.
The Lausanne Regional Food Centre says it handed out 20% more food in April – that’s 11 tonnes. And demand is still going up.
The need reflects the precarious situation many find themselves in due to the economic shock of the lockdown.
Various food banks across the region are expected to be busy again tomorrow.
