Demonstrations held to protest Covid-19 restrictions
Demonstrators gathered in several cities on Saturday, protesting the coronavirus restrictions.
The biggest was in Bern where hundreds met outside the Federal Palace. They carried banners calling the virus ‘a lie’, demanding an end to the lockdown and taunted police with whistles and boos.
Bern police say a few dozen were arrested, mainly for breaking social distancing rules.
Similar demonstrations were held in Zurich, Basel and Sankt Gallen.
Police in all the cities decided against forcefully breaking up the crowds as there were elderly people and children involved.
