Straight road becomes notorious for speeders during lockdown
A straight section of road in canton Zurich is becoming notorious for speeders during the lockdown.
The road which runs between Neftenbach and Aesch is quieter than normal at the moment – and some feel that’s a good excuse to put their foot down.
The limit is 80 kph – but over the past few weeks police have stopped a 36-year-old at 152, a 22-year-old at 148 and two motorcyclists at 169 and 146.
Those are just the ones who’ve been caught. Locals say they hear racing traffic regularly.
Police say they believe the lighter traffic is the main reason. They’re using portable speed traps to try to persuade drivers to keep to the limit.
