Authorities combat large gatherings using mobile phone data
Swiss authorities are using mobile phone data to monitor if people are staying home and choosing not to meet in big groups - according to newspaper reports.
Tracking of the information will allow officials to determine if more stringent lockdown restrictions need to be put in place.
The system has already been successful in China and South Korea.
However, close monitoring of those who’ve tested positive for the virus has been ruled out completely - to protect people’s ’fundamental democratic rights’.
The Federal Council has indicated many times a total lockdown - like in France or Italy - isn’t something they want to impose.
However, it’s still a possible solution if people don’t obey social distancing rules.
