Geneva mayor suffers backlash for new road signs
The Geneva mayor Sandrine Salerno says she’s received a social media backlash after the city unveiled new road signs depicting females – changing from the traditional male image.
A few days ago, new pedestrian warning signs were installed showing women crossing the road.
The mayor says she would do it again despite the negative comments and points out it created a healthy debate about sexism.
But she was forced to delete a tweet she sent showing one of the signs which was lying on the ground. She denounced the act as stupid vandalism – police later confirmed it was the result of a road accident.
