Visitors from across Europe swarm to CERN Open Days
Thousands took the opportunity over the weekend to explore the mysteries of physics as part of CERN Open Days.

The particle physics laboratory threw open its doors to allow everyone a glimpse of what goes on at the massive complex – and many were able to get to the heart of the operation by going underground into the tunnels.
CERN says 75,000 visited over the weekend – with Sunday busier than Saturday. Many came from across Europe – and some even further afield – to sneak a peek.
The visit was possible as the collider is currently switched off as a part of a scheduled upgrade.
The next open days won’t be for another five or six years.
