Four more horses dead after train line crash

After the accident which killed two horses on Sunday on the A3 – four more of the animals died last night when they wandered onto a train line in canton Thurgau.

A regional train heading towards Sankt Gallen hit the three ponies and a horse at high speed. Witnesses say there was a trail of blood for over 100 meters.

The horses were from a local riding school. The owner says an instructor failed to check the pupils had closed the stables after their lesson. In all eight horses had escaped, but four were rounded up.

No people were injured and the train could continue its journey.
