Uber becomes official in Lausanne
The ride app Uber has moved to further formalize its presence in Lausanne. It’s now recognized as a ‘call centre’ which brings it into line with local laws.

The company has around 60 drivers which are now deemed professional and they work under a renewable one year contract.
The move is also calming tensions between the app service and regular taxi drivers. Two years ago taxi drivers went on strike to complain about Uber, saying the drivers were not qualified and lacked insurance.
