Move to make Mont Blanc a UNESCO Heritage Site
A cross border committee is submitting to UNESCO that Mont Blanc should be classed as a World Heritage Site.
A declaration was signed in Chamonix in France by local authorities from France, Italy and Switzerland.
A group called the Espace Mont Blanc has been campaigning for the region for the last 20 years and believes getting on the UNESCO list would protect the environment around Western Europe’s tallest mountain for years to come.
The whole process could take as long as ten years.
