Taxi companies clash in Frauenfeld
Rival taxi firms clashed outside the main train station in Frauenfeld in canton Thurgau as competitors complain about a city rule that only one firm is allowed to pick up passengers from the station.
The competitors say it’s unfair, illegal and unique. Elsewhere in Switzerland, all licenced firms are allowed at the stations.
The rival firms were planning to break the law and wait in the taxi stand – but someone had tipped off the police who were waiting for them.
A driver from a rival firm says the exclusion is costing them around CHF 500 a day in lost fares.
