Oil spill leaves Uri tax payers with big bill
Tax payers in canton Uri will have to pay for a major cleanup on the A2 autoroute after an unknown vehicle left a long trail of oil on the road running for several kilometers.
Police say it will be almost impossible to track down the vehicle, very likely a large truck, which left the oil on the road.
Initially they did suspect a Belgium registered lorry – but that has now been dismissed. Traffic camera were unlikely to be of any help as the image quality is not good enough to spot oil leaking.
The cost of the cleanup is likely to be several hundred thousand francs – say the police.
