Three UK men stuck in Swiss legal system
Three British nationals are caught up in Swiss legal limbo after being accused of racing sports cars through the country on a cannonball style rally. They’ve been detained in Zurich for the past two months.
The trio are accused of racing from the UK to Monaco. Their cars have also been impounded.
A legal situation, which could be likened to something to be expected in less developed parts of the world, mean the men are in jail with no indication when they could be either tried or released.
The British Embassy says they are aware of the situation and have confirmed they are offering consular assistance.
The Zurich prosecutor’s office refuses to comment on even if the men have been charged. But a traffic legal expert says Swiss authorities don’t like people racing through the country.
