Geneva residents feel safer
People in Geneva are feeling safer.
According to a local security survey in 2016, only 34% of citizens feel unsafe when leaving their homes. This figure is down from 2013 when about half admitted they felt uneasy if out beyond 10pm.
Many feel that gangs, street fights and drug dealings are less of a problem than they used to be and that the amount of littering in Geneva has also improved.
People’s optimism is based on reality as in 2016 Swiss crime dropped by 4% and since 2011 Geneva has seen a 30% fall in criminal cases.
More people also have increased confidence in Geneva’s police force with 70% agreeing it is doing a good job.
