Swiss government decides not to regulate against fake news
The Swiss government has decided, for the time being, it won’t intervene to regulate ‘fake news’ on the internet. But it will continue to monitor the situation.
The cabinet says it can’t decide at the moment the right level of regulation needed - if at all. It noted many social networks are implementing their own measure to combat the problem. It highlighted systems put in by Facebook to flag fake news.
It added there are already laws in place to protect data.
But the interior ministry is preparing an information programme to educate young users on how to spot fake news and information.
