Massive fire in Geneva
A large fire brought the centre of Geneva to standstill yesterday afternoon. Right in the heart of Paquis, the top floor of a building caught fire while undergoing renovation work.
At its height the flames and smoke could be seen right across the city.
Firefighters battled throughout the afternoon to stop the fire from spreading – many of them taking risks to cut away sections of the building before they could crash to the ground.
Many cars were damaged by debris – but no one was injured.
Initial investigations suggest the fire started accidently during building work.
