UN workers call on WIPO head to quit
Staff across international organizations in Geneva today will gather at the Place de Nations to support colleagues at the World International Property Organization or WIPO.
WIPO has been at the centre of corruption allegations for many years. Its head, Francis Gurry, is accused of mis-procurement and bullying WIPO employees.
The organization has also been described as the FIFA of the UN by a US Congressional Committee.
Staff councils across the UN accuse WIPO management of intimidation, suppressing investigations, interference in the procurement process and even DNA theft.
