Basel police find bomb making equipment in apartment

Basel police have raided the apartment of a suspected Islamist sympathizer and have discovered bomb making equipment.

The 31 year old man, known only as Abdullah, was known to security services as he has been involved with Swiss Islamic Council and expressed extreme views in the past.

The raid was triggered after he wrote a Facebook post that Paris deserved the attacks last November as it's a ‘filthy country'.

Abdullah told the German language Blick newspaper the red phosphorus chemical he had in his flat was bought legally on-line and he was burning it as a scientific experiment and he is losing interest in Islamic State.
