Every month we catch up with Yan Baczkowski, the director of the Pays de Gex tourist office and find out what's going on across the border.
There's a lot this month, there's the Saveurs et Traditions food festival which links together many top restaurants in the region. It runs from 11-17 October, and has been reviewed by the Guardian newspaper.
Now is a good time to get ski passes for the runs in the Jura Mountains - sign up early and get a great deal.
And it's important to note - a new law in France means that by 1st November - you MUST have either all season or winter tyres on your car in the region. It's always been a good idea, but now it's a legal requirement.
