Mamissa Mboob is an influencer AND an international civil servant. She's worked as the Head of Trade for The Gambia Government. Since moving to Geneva in 2007 she's worked for the World Trade Organisation (WTO), the Global Fund, OCHA and UNICEF. She has focussed on trade, public health, emergency preparedness and response, public-private sector partnerships, and policy development .

When her contract with UNICEF ended last year, Mamissa decided that this was her chance to explore her creativity. It was 2020, mid-pandemic, and people were feeling low. It felt natural to her to use her creativity and love of colour to try to cheer people up.

Mamissa wants to inspire women and girls, especially women of colour, to have confidence; to be bold and to not let anyone hold them back.

We speak to Mamissa on the WRS Breakfast Show about how became an influencer last year with over 129K followers on her instagram (@thecolourmemam) page, and a TikTok star, but we also talk about the surprising similarities she's found between her two careers and the goals they share.

Here's Mamissa...
