Kantarama Gahigiri is a film director, writer and producer. This year she is also the curator of the "New Territory: Rwanda" section at the Fribourg International Film Festival.
WRS' Katt Cullen talks to Kantarama about Rwandan cinema, which is fairly new, and evolving fast. Kantarama talks about the themes and genres that it was important for her to represent within her selection at the film festival, to truly depict the film industry in Rwanda; from poetic feature films, sci-fi, and documentaries about conflict, or love.
She talks about some of her upcoming highlights and also about her short film Ethereality, which will also be screened in Fribourg.
Fribourg International Film Festival takes place between the 16-25 July 2021.
