Montreux International School will open this coming September. WRS spoke to Jon Halligan, Executive Head, about this brand new school, his own history working with the IB and the differences between IB programmes, and who might still be interested in registering to start at the new school this coming September.

Montreux International School school will be the the first school in Switzerland to be fully dedicated to the new and innovative IBCP, allowing it to stand out from other private schools in the Montreux region. It will open for High School students (ages 15-18) and offer authentic, career-aligned curriculums.

The school was set up by two former Directors of the IB organisation who have a passion for the IBCP and wanted to open a school that would provide the true value of the curriculum.

They offer the International Baccalaureate Career Related Programme (IBCP) in Business and Digital Marketing, and the IBCP in Business, Luxury Hospitality and Brand. Through partnerships with higher education institutes across the globe, Montreux International School offers its students accelerated career pathways and opportunities upon graduation. Many of those pathways include facilitated admissions and credit recognition, allowing for direct entry, often into the 2nd year of a University programme.

The IBCP was developed in 2012 and is the fastest growing curriculum within the IB portfolio as more and more schools adopt this option.

MIS is located within the prestigious Institut Monte Rosa, one of Switzerland’s oldest boarding schools. This is where tradition meets innovation. MIS students benefits from using the facilities of the Monte Rosa school whilst also enjoying the extended student life. A lovely boarding house is dedicated to the senior MIS students just across the street. The school offers day school and flexible boarding options.  The lake is a 5-minute walk away and the mountains a 20-minute drive away
