FAO's Chief Economist Maximo Torero talks "World Food Day"

For World Food Day, we speak to Maximo ToreroCullen, Chief Economist of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
Also known simply by the acronym FAO, the Food and Agriculture Organisation was set up on the 16 October in 1945. Maximo explained to WRS' Katt Cullen (no relation) that it was created in the aftermath of WWII, with the aim of alleviating poverty, hunger and malnutrition.
World Food Day offers the chance to reflect on progress in the last 76 years, but it’s also important to take stock on how to build support from the ground up, to work with communities. He talks about the effect of Covid-19 and staggering inequalities and access to technology and information, that present great risks to the agri-food systems around the world. There are millions of people that still don’t have access to sufficient food.
