Carouge Character - Albertine exhibition

Listen Again

Wednesday, 20 October 2021 - 5 minutes

Welcome to Carouge Character, our mini-series all about Carouge.

Today we look at the Albertine exhibition in the recently renovated Musée de Carouge.

For their grand reopening, they asked local Geneva based artist and illustrator Albertine to take over the museum. And take it over she truly has! Albertine is famous for her illustrations which you may have seen in local and international exhibitions, or on posters for events in Geneva such as the Escalade and Fête de la Musique. You may have also seen her work in children's books. In 2020 she received the Hans Christian Anderson prize in 2020 - the highest international distinction given to authors and illustrators of children's books.

For her exhibition at the Musée de Carouge, she chose the theme "Apparition" and we are invited to contemplate solitude. Her work often has colour and it certainly has humour. It is childlike, playful, refined and profound.

The museum in Carouge can be found at the Place de Sardaigne in Carouge and it’s open Tuesday - Sunday 2-6pm. A Pass Sanitaire is required.

The Albertine exhibition is on until the 19 December 2021. Admission is free.
