Alex wants a skatepark in Versoix

Alexander Rademaker has launched a petition to build a skatepark in Versoix.

He talks to Katt Cullen on the WRS Breakfast Show about the culture, community and popularity of the sport, as well as a little about the architectural design that's integral to building a skatepark that's right for the town.

Although the demographic of skaters is typically young kids and teens, he says they're welcoming to skate enthusiasts of all ages. However, as skaters are typically quite young, Alex explains that they don't have transport to get to local skate parks in Mies, Plain Palais or La Praille, for example. This is backed up by many comments on his petition, such as those that say that having a skate park close to them would be "a dream" or that they simply can't afford the train fare to go to local skate parks as often as they like. This is all the more reason, he says, for a skate park in Versoix.

If you agree that building a skate park in Versoix sounds like a good idea, sign the petition and leave a comment: https://www.openpetition.eu/ch/petition/online/construisons-un-skatepark-a-versoix
