Astrid Dauverné, Head of the International Business Management bachelor programme at Haute école de gestion de Genève (HEG), explains how the programme prepares students for careers in international business with a strong focus on the Swiss economy.

Based in Carouge, HEG is part of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland, which counts around 20'000 students.

The International Business Management programme typically attracts students in their 20s, with an average age of 23, creating a dynamic and career-focused learning environment.

If you're considering a future in international business - particularly one aligned with Switzerland’s global outlook - this programme offers practical insight, strong industry connections, and direct integration into the alumni network from day one.

HEG Geneva is holding its Open Day on Wednesday 4 March 2026 from 12:30 to 17:30. Visitors can discover the four Bachelor programmes, meet current students and alumni, speak with admissions, international relations and career services, and attend a Bachelor in International Business Management from 14:00 and 17:00. Guided visits (15 minutes) are available throughout the afternoon.

Enrollement deadlines for this September 2026 are 30 April 2026 for Swiss/EU and 15 March 2026 for non-EU.

LIONS is a young corporate community based in Zurich, created to connect the international young professional scene across Switzerland. It brings together people working in finance, consulting, pharma, tech, and related fields - building a strong network through curated social events that combine meaningful connections with high-quality music.

Although they’re relatively new on the scene - their first event was in April 2024 - they’ve already made a big impact. Their Christmas party in December welcomed more than 450 guests, showing there’s clear demand for this kind of international, professional-yet-social community in Zurich.

What makes LIONS stand out is the atmosphere. Their DJs come from top clubs in Spain, bringing that vibrant energy to Zurich and blending it with a professional after-work crowd.

Their first event of 2026 is LIONS Thursday, an after-work edition taking place on Thursday 26th February at Kraftwerk. It’s designed as a space where ambitious young professionals can unwind, meet like-minded people, and enjoy great music - all in a stylish setting.

To find out more, follow them on Instagram at @lions.fest and join their WhatsApp group for updates on upcoming events.

WRS's Katt Cullen spoke to Anna Hernandez on the Breakfast Show to learn more about the growing LIONS community...

On the WRS Breakfast Show, Katt Cullen speaks with Prof. Dr. Dawn Rose, a music psychologist and lead researcher on an international study at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU) exploring how music can help ease Parkinson’s symptoms. She's also an ex punk-rock drummer and session musician.

With over 15,000 people in Switzerland living with Parkinson’s, the research shows that music can significantly improve movement, motivation, and mood. Prof. Rose explains how rhythm can act as an external cue to support walking, while even imagined music - an “inner jukebox” - can help people overcome freezing episodes.

The research was developed in close collaboration with people living with the condition and includes diverse musical styles, from marching music to traditional dance.

They discuss the next steps for the project and the recent findings, as well as the implications of such a project and the next steps.

This year, the performance comes to the Volkshaus, Zurich, in English, offering audiences a chance to experience Dickens’ storytelling as he might have performed it himself.

They also touch on familiar versions of the tale, including the Muppets adaptation, and what makes a live Dickens reading so unique and magical for the festive season.

This week, Katt Cullen is joined by Helena Grant, the newly appointed Head of Primary at Geneva English School (GES), who will take up the role in January 2026.

Families moving overseas often ask which curriculum best prepares their children for the future—one that’s both internationally recognised and academically rigorous. Helena, an expert in the English National Curriculum, explains why so many international families choose it. With over 25 years’ experience in education, she’s worked in schools across the UK, Tanzania, and Kenya, and will soon bring that global perspective to GES, which teaches children aged 3 to 13.

Helena highlights how the English National Curriculum balances academic excellence with the development of the whole child—building teamwork, leadership, empathy, and resilience. At GES, pupils consistently exceed expectations, thanks to strong support and challenge for every learner.

Helena looks forward to nurturing a joyful, curious, and ambitious school community.

Katt Cullen is joined in the studio by Joshua Levens and Pia Oberoi, two cast members from the GEDS’s upcoming production of Deathtrap, the classic thriller by Ira Levin. Directed by Veera Valo, the play blends suspense, dark humour, and sharp twists that keep audiences guessing until the very end.

Joshua and Pia discuss their roles as Sidney and Myra Bruhl. Sidney, once a celebrated playwright, is desperate for another hit. When he receives an exceptional script from his former student, Clifford Anderson, he half-jokes that he might kill him and claim it as his own. But when Clifford accepts an invitation to Sidney’s secluded home, the line between a harmless quip and a deadly plan begins to blur.

Expect intrigue, surprises, and a masterclass in psychological tension from GEDS’ latest production.

Deathtrap runs 25–29 November 2025 at the Théâtre de Terre-Sainte in Coppet. Tickets available now at www.geds.ch

Tyrrian Livesley joins us in the WRS studio to talk about the Gift Box Project, where gift boxes are prepared here in Switzerland and shipped to children in need in schools, hospitals, orphanages, after-school centres, and needy families in their homes, throughout Moldova and Ukraine.

This is an appeal to listeners to create their own gift boxes to go to these children. Prepare your box today and drop it off at one of the handy collection points.

Each box should be packed with essential items such as school items (notepads and pencils), hygiene items (toothbrush & soap) and fun items (toys, sweets). Additional optional items include hats, gloves and scarves. A full list of the essential and optional items on each box can be found on the website, as well as the downloadable customs label to be attached to each box, once it's wrapped. A wine-carton makes for the perfect size and it's strong!

Full information, labels and drop off point locations can be found at giftboxproject.ch

Plenna is a non-profit association, non-political and secular, based in Geneva. The organisation seeks to inform and help equip individuals to accept, consider and proactively plan for dying and death, whether for themselves or their loved ones, and whatever their situation or age.

Through frank but sensitive communication, including humour, Plenna aims to amplify and build upon existing good practice, open spaces for bold discussions about decision-making in death and dying and how to live with the end in mind. With this strategy, they hope to remove the unnecessary suffering around death and dying.

David Sunderland is the founder of Plenna. He joined us on the WRS Breakfast Show to explain what Plenna aims to do and the resources they provide.

Through frank but sensitive communication, including humour, Plenna aims to amplify and build upon existing good practice, open spaces for bold discussions about decision-making in death and dying and how to live with the end in mind. With this strategy, they hope to remove the unnecessary suffering around death and dying.

Get ready to laugh with the Renegade Saints, Geneva’s premier improv comedy troupe! Since their founding in 2014, they’ve been delivering fast-paced, unscripted hilarity to the city’s English-speaking scene.

On today's Breakfast Show, improv performer and coach Shay Schafer joins Katt Cullen, ahead of them both appearing on-stage this evening for a night of improv hilarity with the Renegade Saints at Mr Pickwick's Pub in Geneva. Shay arrived in Geneva last year from Chicago - the improv capital of the world - with credits from ComedySportz, The Annoyance Theatre, and Second City.

They discuss their love of performing, the mix of chaos and structure that drives improv, and how audience participation shapes a Renegade Saints show (though no one's ever forced to come on-stage, we promise!).

Every Renegade Saints show is a night of spontaneous, side-splitting entertainment and no two shows are ever the same!

Next shows: Thursday 16 October, Thursday 13 November & Thursday 11 December.

This year marks a major milestone for one of Switzerland’s most iconic music festivals. Baloise Session is celebrating 40 years of bringing world-class artists to Basel. Known for its intimate setting with candlelit tables and an audience that’s up close to the stage, the festival has always offered something truly special. Over the decades, it’s hosted some of the biggest names in music - from Elton John, Tom Jones, and Alicia Keys to Nina Simone and James Brown - all performing in a setting that feels more like a private club than a major festival.

On today's WRS Breakfast Show, Beatrice Stirnimann, CEO of the Baloise Session, joins WRS’s Katt Cullen to talk about the festival’s spirit, what makes it stand out, and how it’s evolved over the past four decades. They discuss the importance of keeping performances intimate, the mix of genres that make up the lineup each year - from rock and pop to soul, jazz, and blues - and the magic of seeing legendary artists perform in such a personal space.

Beatrice also shares which artists have truly taken her breath away on that stage, and what makes her nervous as the festival kicks off...

Baloise Session runs 17 October to 6 November 2025. Though it's now mostly sold-out, a lucky few can still grab tickets for this Saturday’s show featuring Parov Stelar and Berlioz for a night of electro and swing.

If you’re in the Geneva or Vaud area and thinking about joining a sports club - for your kids or maybe even yourself - there are plenty of great options across rugby, football, table tennis, and netball.

For younger children, you’ll often start with activity-based sessions or “sports providers” from as early as age 2. Around 7 years old, kids can move into more structured training, and by 10, most are ready to join a local club with regular coaching, matches, and weekend tournaments.

There’s something for every level and interest:
🏉 Rugby – From Rugby Tots for toddlers to Servette Rugby Club and Switzers Touch for adults.
⚽ Football – Try InterSoccer or Whibley Sports for younger players, and local clubs like Versoix, Terre Sainte, or Lancy for older kids.
🏓 Table Tennis – Join friendly, professional clubs like CTT Versoix or UGS Chênois.
🏐 Netball – GGNA, Kingfishers, and Aubonne All Stars welcome children and adults alike.

Most clubs are bilingual (FR/EN), offer trial sessions, and vary in cost depending on training frequency and equipment.

Find the full list of clubs by age, sport, and location at kids-zone.ch

Chris Hemmens (Macbeth) and Mundey Young (Lady Macbeth) join us on the Breakfast Show to discuss the upcoming Hoops of Iron production of Macbeth in Geneva and neighbouring and France this October and November. We talk about their characters, the new approach they've both employed to bring their performances to life on the live-stage, and the relevance of Shakespeare's classic play.

Director Dr. Sofie Quarnström has approached the play through a psychological lens, exploring modern understandings of the human mind and behaviour. Her interpretation seeks to illuminate how psychological mechanisms - such as obsession, guilt, and moral disintegration - play out in a world increasingly shaped by disinformation and rising authoritarianism, exploring the seductive pull of ambition and the devastating consequences of moral decay.

This fierce, physical, and deeply relevant production will be performed across two venues in Geneva and neighbouring France:
Théâtre les 50, St-Jean-de-Gonville, France : 24 / 25 / 26 / 31 Oct & 1 / 2 Nov
Scène Cæcilia, Geneva, Switzerland : 15 / 16 Nov

Tamara from Kids-Zone.ch joined Katt Cullen on the WRS Breakfast Show to talk about the best autumn walks for families around Geneva and Vaud.

With the lake getting colder and ski slopes not yet open, it’s the perfect time to enjoy hiking trails as the leaves turn. Tamara shares some of her favourites: from Mont Salève, with its cable car and sweeping alpine views, to the peaceful forest paths of Mont Mussy in Divonne and the fascinating WWII fortifications along the Toblerone Walk.

She also recommends the woods of Versoix for a gentle family stroll surrounded by nature.

These routes are easy to reach, family-friendly, and a wonderful way to soak up the colours and energy of the season.

To take a tour at the school, reach out at any time of year at admission@ecolemosaic.ch or visit ecolemosaic.ch

Maxime Spano is an astronomer, a Doctor in Astrophysics, and is passionate about bringing the wonders of the night sky down to Earth for everyone to enjoy. He's also the founder of AstroLeman, where Maxime shares his love for the stars with audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

Today Maxime is telling us about the lunar eclipse that will be visible from Europe this Sunday evening.

Look to the sky this Sunday between 8 - 9pm. The moon will rise with an orange-reddish colour. Maxime explains why this is, if the Earth is blocking the sun's light. It'll be visible with the naked eye.

The next one visible from Europe will be next August 2026.
