  • 16/01/2017
  • Cabaret Voltaire, Spiegelgasse 1, Zurich, 8001, Switzerland

Awake to the challenges immediately facing our world, writers across the United States and now the globe are coming together to offer coordinated readings from historic and contemporary writing that celebrate and protect the ideals of equality and inclusion, freedom of expression, respect for our earth, and democracy. Over 60 cities are participating in the event - from Omaha Nebraska to Hong Kong. The events will feature hundreds of prominent literary voices and artists. The flagship event in New York City, co-sponsored by PEN America, will feature Laurie Anderson, journalists Moustafa Bayoumi and Amy Goodman, and former US Poets Laureate Rita Dove and Robert Pinsky, among many others. In Zurich, international and local writers will gather on January 16th, Martin Luther King Day, for an evening of inspiring and resonant writing to affirm our commitment to a compassionate, diverse, and healthy world. The event will be held in the historic home of the DADA movement, the Cabaret Voltaire.
